Danyang County ( Korean : 단양군 , Danyang-gun ) is located in Gyeongsangnam-do Province . The administrative headquarters are located in Danyang-eup City. The district had an area of 781 km² and a population of 29,970 inhabitants in 2019.
83.7% of the geographical area is mountainous and only 11.2% can be cultivated. It's very rough except in some urban areas and villages that can be found in the valleys and hills. The main water system extends from the upper stream of the 23.7 km long Namhan River, which flows through the county.
