Daria Nałęcz

Daria Lipińska-Nałęcz (born July 1, 1951 in Warsaw ) is a Polish historian and archivist . From 1996 to 2006 she was the first woman General Director of the Polish State Archives and from 2012 to 2015 State Secretary in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education .

Life

In 1995 Nałęcz became an associate professor specializing in contemporary Polish history . From September 1, 1996 to September 26, 2006, she was the main director of the Polish State Archives. During this time Nałęcz was Vice-President of the EURBICA regional branch of the International Archives Council (ICA) . In addition, in 2005 she was appointed chair of the international working group on Holocaust Awareness, Remembrance and Research .

Nałęcz was 1996-2007 Chairman of the Polish Committee for UNESCO - World Soundtrack Awards .

On January 31, 2012, Nałęcz took over the position of State Secretary in the Polish Ministry of Science. She held this position until December 1, 2015. She is chairwoman of Leopold Kronenberg - Foundation .

Nałęcz is a mother and married to the politician and university professor Tomasz Nałęcz .

Awards

Daria Nałęcz was awarded the Grand Officer's Cross with Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta in 2011 after receiving the Commander's Cross in 2007.

Her books on Polish elites and Józef Pilsudski have received several awards.
