List of state archives in Poland

The list of state archives in Poland includes the state archives of the Republic of Poland . The main director of the Polish State Archives is responsible for the central archives and the regional state archives ( Polish Archiwum Państwowe, AP) with their branches and branches.

Main Director and Head Office of the Polish State Archives

  • The main director of the Polish State Archives has been Paweł Pietrzyk since January 31, 2019. The Main Directorate of the Polish State Archives (NDAP) reports to and supports him. His deputies are Joanna Chojecka, Lucyna Harc and Ryszard Wojtkowski.

Central archives

In addition to the three Polish central archives in Warsaw, there are a number of other archives that document the work of institutions in the country. The main archive of old files was founded in 1808 as a general state archive. The chronological inventory ranges from the 12th century to the time of the First World War . The New State Archive was founded in 1919 as an army archive. The National Digital Archive was created in 2008 from the archive for machine documentation founded in 1955 .
