Strzmiele ( German Stramehl ) is a place in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It is incorporated into the Gmina Radowo Małe (rural community Klein Raddow) in the Powiat Łobeski (Labeser Kreis) .
In 1348 the place received city rights under the name Wulfsberg , but later sank again to the village.
Geographical location
The place is in Western Pomerania on the left side of the Rega, west of the almost one kilometer wide Stramehl Lake , around six kilometers west of the city of Labes ( Łobez ) and around 15 kilometers southeast of the city of Regenwalde ( Resko ). The Stramehlsche Beke , which comes from the west and flows northeast of it into the Rega, flows through the Stramehl Lake .
history
The settlement appears for the first time under the Slavic name Stamyl . Around 1279/1280, Wulfsberg or Vulversberg Castle is mentioned here as the property of the Borcke family . The name "Wulfsberg" is likely to be related to the Borckes coat of arms, which shows two wolves. The Pomeranian dukes Bogislaw V , Barnim IV and Wartislaw V destroyed the castle together with the citizens of Greifenberg and in 1338 had the Borckes primal feud swear to them.
The Borcke family tried to develop the place into a town. In 1348 Jakob von Borcke issued a festival in which he gave the place city rights under the name of Wulfsberg according to Luebian law . Since the Borckes belonged to the Pomeranian nobles who robbed knights and guests of the Teutonic Order , the Order destroyed the Borckesche Burg in 1393. This was a hindrance to the development of the city. It was referred to as a town until the 18th century , but in fact it was already sunk into a village during this time.
The Borckes built a new castle in the 15th century. Later, between 1714 and 1731, members of the Borcke family gradually sold Stramehl to Otto Adrian von Edeling . A smaller part of Stramehl was temporarily fiefdom of the Thun family , who last ceded their rights to Otto Adrian von Edeling in 1721. In 1742 the tribunal councilor Johann Friedrich Loeper bought Stramehl.
Wedderwill and Löpersdorf in 1851/1853 were laid out as Vorwerke von Stramehl .
Until 1945 Stramehl was a rural community in the Regenwalde district of the Prussian province of Pomerania . In addition to Stramehl, the community also included Birkheide , Löpersdorf , Nickelsmühle and Wedderwill .
Towards the end of the Second World War , the Red Army occupied the region in the spring of 1945 . A little later, Stramehl, like all of Western Pomerania, was placed under Polish administration. In the period that followed, the locals were evicted and replaced by Poles. The German village of Stramehl was renamed Strzmiele .
