Dario Dončević (born January 12, 1958 in Buenos Aires ) is a German chess player who has been playing for the Croatian Chess Federation since 1996.

In 1974 Dario Dončević took part in the youth championship of the Chess Association Middle Rhine in Bergisch Neukirchen .

He was winner of the youth championship of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1977 in Wallrabenstein .

In 1979 he became German team champion with SG Porz in Bad Kissingen . Robert Huebner and Vlastimil Hort played on the first two boards.

He received the title of International Master from FIDE in 1986.

He played team fights for SV 03/25 Koblenz , initially in the second Bundesliga (group southwest). In the first chess Bundesliga , he played in the years 1982 bis 1994 every year for his club Koblenz.
