Darius Rafat

Darius Justin Rafat (born December 13, 1977 ) is a Canadian musician , songwriter , composer , producer , band leader and music manager . He works internationally as a composer and music producer for TV shows, advertising , soundtracks and film.

Life

His mother is the Canadian jazz singer Judy Rafat , who has toured with Dizzy Gillespie , Dave Brubeck and Wynton Marsalis , among others . He started playing the piano and drums as a child and composed his first pieces when he was five. He made his stage debut when he was ten as a Michael Jackson impersonator at a school performance. In 1997 he co-produced the “Dizzy Gillespie Tribute” CD “Con Alma” in New York with his mother, with the participation of Kenny Barron , Paquito D'Rivera , Claudio Roditi , Rufus Reid and Frank Wess . At the age of twenty he signed his first songwriting contract with PolyGram Music Publishing GmbH in Hamburg. For the Saturday night show Do you understand fun? with Frank Elstner he composed the new title music in 2001, which made him the youngest composer of a Saturday evening show in Germany at the age of 23 . Shortly afterwards he created the new Sat.1 AIDS gala “Nacht der Stars 2001” anthem with the gospel song “Hope”, which he also presented live with stars such as Sting , Mariah Carey , Mick Jagger and Lenny Kravitz .

Rafat oversees international projects with partner studios in London and Santa Monica / Los Angeles. With his soul, funk & disco band “Darius Rafat & Friends” he has been booked for corporate and sponsoring events for many years.

He often acts as an agent and creative consultant for companies and brands in the areas of sponsoring, promotion, advertising, brand communication and brand partnerships. Darius Rafat is the founder and CEO of the international music agency and production company Fat Music, with offices in London, Los Angeles and Berlin. As a TV presenter, Darius Rafat worked for RTLII music TV shows such as u. a. “The Dome”, “Apres Ski Hits”, “Mallorca Hits”, “The Ultimate Clip Show”, as well as for the daily children's program “Pokito TV”. Darius Rafat lives and works in London and is married to a fashion manager.
