Darmstadt master buildings
With reference to the first exhibition of the Darmstadt artists' colony in 1901, in 1951, as part of the 2nd Darmstadt Talks from 4th to 6th August, the exhibition Mensch und Raum was shown at Mathildenhöhe . The drafts for the eleven originally planned Darmstadt master buildings were presented. The buildings by internationally renowned architects were typical of the reconstruction phase after the Second World War, eleven planning contracts were awarded. Due to a lack of financial resources, the city was only able to realize five, some in a reduced or modified form. These were
- the Georg Büchner School by Hans Schwippert ;
- the Ludwig George High School of Max Taut ;
- the Women's Hospital of Otto Bartning and Otto Dörzbach ;
- the single home , an apartment house, by Ernst Neufert ;
- the Kita Children world of Franz Schuster .
The drafts were not implemented
- a concert hall on Wilhelminenplatz by Paul Bonatz ;
- a primary school with a kindergarten for assessments by Willem Marinus Dudok ;
- of a town house on Luisenplatz by Peter Grund ;
- an elementary school for the Landgraf-Georg-Straße by Hans Scharoun ;
- a girls' vocational school run by Rudolf Schwarz (architect) ;
- an elementary school with kindergarten for Eberstadt by Otto Ernst Schweizer .
