Darmstadt Music Prize

The Darmstadt Music Prize has been awarded since 2005. The organizers are the Darmstädter Förderkreis Kultur eV together with the Sparkasse Darmstadt . Musicians and composers from the Darmstadt area can be nominated, but also for musicians, musicologists and researchers who work at the Darmstadt music institutions ( International Music Institute , Jazz Institute Darmstadt , Institute for New Music and Music Education , Academy of Music , Music Department of Hess State library etc.) want to work. The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros.

The price is not advertised publicly. The proposals for the annual award come exclusively from the jury. These include: Peter Benz , retired Lord Mayor. D .; Michael Bode-Böckenhauer, Managing Director Centralstation Darmstadt; Wolfram Knauer , Director of the Darmstadt Jazz Institute; Cord Meijering, Director of the Academy for Music, Darmstadt; Martin Lukas Meister , General Music Director of the Darmstadt State Theater ; Solf Schaefer, former director of the International Music Institute Darmstadt; Thomas Schäfer, Director of the International Music Institute Darmstadt; Helmut Stütz, senior magistrate, former head of the cultural office of the City of Science Darmstadt.
