Wolfgang Kleber

Wolfgang Kleber (born February 20, 1958 in Idstein / Taunus) is a German organist and composer .

Life

After taking piano and organ lessons with Heinrich Sell and Edwin Müller, Wolfgang Kleber completed his studies at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts with Edgar Krapp , Karl Köhler and Fritz-Werner Büchner ( organ ), Joachim Erhard and Helmuth Rilling (conducting ), as well as Hans Ulrich Engelmann and Heinz Werner Zimmermann (composition). In 1980 he passed the A-exam in Protestant church music, followed by the artistic maturity exam in 1983 and in 1984 the concert exam with a major in organ.

In 1982 Wolfgang Kleber received the Johann Pachelbel Prize at the International Organ Interpretation Competition in Nuremberg , and in 2010 the Darmstadt Music Prize

From 1981 to 1985 he worked as a church musician at the Kreuzkirche in Wiesbaden , and since 1985 in the same position at the Pauluskirche Darmstadt .

Wolfgang Kleber has been Dean's Chantor in Darmstadt since 1990 and was also Chairman of the State Association of Protestant Church Musicians in Hesse and Nassau from 1997 to 2002 .

From 1994 to 1998 he held a teaching position for organ literature playing at the University of Church Music in Heidelberg .

He goes on concert tours around the world as an organist. So he stepped u. a. in the Leipzig Gewandhaus and performed in Japan , Australia , New Zealand , South and North America, Russia and numerous European countries. There are also radio and CD recordings.

He is the artistic director of the Organ Summer in Darmstadt and works as a conductor with a wide variety of ensembles.

In 2002 he founded the Trio Insolito together with the soprano Barbara Meszaros and the bassoonist Gabor Meszaros.
