Darryl Hunt (born May 4, 1950 in Hampshire , England ) is an English musician, best known for his engagement with the Irish-English folk-punk band The Pogues from 1986 until they split up 10 years later. He currently leads the band "Bish" and has been performing regularly with the Pogues since 2001 .

Life

Hunt attended the Nottingham Trent University School of Art and Design, where he played in a jazz band, before joining the Brothel Creepers, a band that was formed in 1973 for a student film. When they moved to London , they renamed themselves Plummet Airlines and blossomed into a well-known pub rock band. One of her first works was published directly by Stiff Records and landed on "Hits Greatest Stiffs". Plummet Airlines disbanded in 1977. Hunt then founded the group "Pride of the Cross", with the future Pogues - bassist Cait O'Riordan . Shortly after O'Riordan left the band to play with the Pogues, Hunt also took a job with them, but this was initially limited to organizational matters. He later replaced O'Riordan on a few gigs, eventually replacing her completely in late 1986 after she left the band to do his King of America tour with her husband Elvis Costello . Hunt took part in all of the Pogues' subsequent albums and wrote some songs himself, including "Love You Till The End" from the Pogue Mahone album .

After the breakup in 1996, Hunt worked as a DJ in Europe and played on several projects as a guest player, including a performance with the band "The Vendettas" founded by his former companion Spider Stacy . Hunt joined "Bish" again, who released a new album in 2001. Since 2001, Hunt has been playing regularly with the Pogues again . In 2009 he released the 2nd album "Surrounded By Mountains" with "Bish".
