Performing game

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Performing play (abbreviated: DS or DSP ) is a school subject in the style of a theater lesson , which goes back to the reform pedagogue Martin Luserke (1880–1968), who introduced this into school work in 1906. The aim is to encourage the students to be creative and to develop their social , emotional and aesthetic skills . Since it is a very independent, group-oriented subject, social skills are often learned better than in other subjects.

description

The performing game analyzes the use and effect of theatrical means such as body, voice, space, props, costume, stage design and light. The means are tried out in playful exercises and implemented in productions. The practical work is strongly process-oriented and it ends with the presentation of a production.

Students learn the following skills through lessons:

  • To convert performances into small plays ,
  • to project what is represented onto one's own life,
  • Try out behavior patterns and train them for your own life,
  • Explore problem areas in your own and general life.

In the theater, the players can put themselves in different roles . You discover your own interests in the game and develop views and opinions.

Since the subject of performing games has many influences from other subjects, for example from German , fine arts , music , sport , but also history and social studies , in order to be able to accurately represent social contexts , it is particularly educational.

In this subject, students also develop skills that are important for everyday life . You learn to assess the impact of your own performance; their perception is strengthened, group behavior is developed, and linguistic competence is promoted and expanded. You break down inhibitions and develop more joy in more flexible behavior patterns. Pupils can also learn to express emotions in the performing game.

In German schools , performing games is taught in elementary school , secondary level I and II , i.e. in principle from the beginning to the end of school time, with only a few schools offering the subject, as only a few teachers have the training to teach it. It is often offered in upper secondary school as a third artistic subject alongside music and the visual arts, or as an alternative to the two classical musical subjects. At most schools that teach performing arts, it is relevant for promotion and exams are also written.

The federal state of Hamburg is one of the pioneers in expanding the range of lessons: Since the 2011/2012 school year, performing arts / theater has been a compulsory subject in primary and lower schools for all students for at least one hour. This makes Hamburg the first federal state in which theater lessons are offered consistently from first grade to high school.

education

In a cooperation between the five universities of applied sciences Leibniz Universität Hannover , Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover , Stiftung Universität Hildesheim , Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig and Technische Universität Braunschweig , the performing arts course has been offered as a bachelor's and a postgraduate master’s course at the University of Hannover since 2003.

Since 2005 there has also been a bachelor's degree in performing games at the Braunschweig University of Fine Arts. The master’s course for teaching at grammar schools has been running since 2007.

At the Rostock University of Music and Theater , the subject of performing arts was offered as a department at the Institute for Drama. The first state examination could be passed for teaching at primary schools, secondary schools and secondary schools as well as for special education . For the teaching post at grammar schools, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania only offers the qualification of a minor, this is accompanied by a certificate from the university.

Since the 2011/12 winter semester, the master's degree in theater education with integrated additional training for performing games has replaced the previous training model. It is therefore no longer possible to take the first state examination in performing games during a regular teacher training course.

Since the winter semester 2014/15, the University of Koblenz-Landau has been offering performing games as a teaching certificate course for secondary schools at both campuses. In other words, it can be studied as a third subject in addition to two other subjects as part of a teacher training course with the school types Gymnasium, Realschule plus and vocational school. This requires a passed aptitude test. The application for a third subject is possible from the 4th semester (studies begin every summer from the 5th semester) or with a completed teaching degree at this or any other university or for teachers. The course comprises 4 semesters with 32 hours per week (SWS). In Koblenz, the course is offered in cooperation with the Koblenz Theater , which provides two practical modules of the course. Primary school teachers can acquire a small theater certificate in Koblenz if they have attended a certain number of thematically related theater / DS events during their regular two-subject course.

The Berlin University of the Arts offers both an additional degree in theater education and performing games for teachers. Admission to the additional course in performing arts requires a completed teaching degree and experience in the field of games and theater. The part-time course takes 6 semesters, full-time 3 semesters.

At the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (FAU) Nuremberg it is possible to take the 1st state examination in the field of performing games. The course comprises 4 semesters and 44 hours per week (SWS).
