Darwin Torres (full name: Darwin Fabián Torres Alonso ) (born February 16, 1991 in José Pedro Varela ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The "Vampiro" from Lavalleja , Torres plays in the position of the defender . He comes from his own youth team Nacional Montevideos , but originally started playing football in Maldonado at Club Atlético Fernandino . From 2004 he was then in the U-14 (Septima) of the club from Montevideo, lived in the club's boarding school and has since gone through the other club teams. In the 2007/08 season he was Uruguayan U-17 champions. In 2009 the U-19s, which he led as team captain, also won the national championship title. He also won the Punta Cup , an international tournament for U-20 teams, in 2008 and 2009 with his teammates. In 2009 he also wore the captain's armband. Under coach Marcelo Gallardo , he made the leap to the first team in 2011. There he made his debut on October 1, 2011 in the 3-0 away win against CS Cerrito in the Uruguayan Primera División . For the Bolsos he completed 17 first division games and one game in the Copa Libertadores in Apertura and Clausura in the 2011/2012 season . At the end of the season, the state championship was on the balance sheet. In the 2013 Clausura he was on loan with Racing , where he played twelve times in the Primera División in the second half of the season. After the loan expired, he returned to Nacional for the 2013/2014 season, which initially refused to accept a new loan request from Racings. Before the start of the season, he moved to Juventud , where he was loaned out again until the end of the year. In the Apertura 2013 he appeared eleven or twelve times in the league, depending on the sources, but scored no goals. He returned to Nacional for the 2014 Clausura. In the Clausura 2014, he played four first division games for the Bolsos . Then in mid-July 2014 it was initially announced that he would be joining Juventud again for the 2014/15 season. However, this change obviously did not materialize, since in early August 2014 league competitor Racing announced the renewed commitment of the left-back. In the 2014/15 season he was used in 25 first division games (no goal). This was followed by twelve first division appearances (no goal) in the Apertura 2015. At the beginning of 2016, he joined the Mexican club Cimarrones de Sonora . There he played 32 league games (no goal) in Primera A. At the beginning of January 2017, Zacatepex Siglo XXI signed him . So far (as of March 4, 2017) he has scored one goal in eleven league appearances and completed a cup game (no goal).

National team

Torres was a member of Uruguay's U-19 selection in 2010 . He was the captain of an international tournament that year in which, in addition to Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Brazil also took part. Torres name was part of a provisional pre-selection list announced on February 14, 2012 by national coach Óscar Tabárez , from which the nominees for the Uruguayan team at the Olympic football tournament of the 2012 Olympic Games are to be recruited. In the end, however, he was not nominated.
