The Supper of the Rose (original title: Ne gorjuj ! , translated: Don't be sad ) is a Soviet-Georgian film by Georgi Danelija from 1969. The main roles are played by Wachtang Kikabidze , Anastassija Wertinskaja , Lia Gudadze and Sopiko Tschiaureli . The Georgian film is an adaptation of the novel My Uncle Benjamin by Claude Tillier . It appeared in the same year as the successful French film My Uncle Benjamin .

The film tells the story of the country doctor Benjamin Glonti. He has just returned home from studying in St. Petersburg. He has his love affairs with the young landlady Margo, but Benjamin's sister would like to pair him up with Maria. Maria is the daughter of the doctor Levan and in love with someone else. While escaping with this, her lover dies while she disappears forever. Levan gets so sad that he has to die from it. He throws a feast on his own farewell.

On May 8, 1970, Das Gastmahl der Rose was shown in GDR cinemas . It was first broadcast in the GDR on November 19, 1971 on DFF 2 . In the Federal Republic of Germany the first broadcast took place on March 10, 1975 on ZDF .
