action
The young mother Natalie Unger dies in an accident. She had decided that her Muslim neighbors Sehra and Cem Balta should now take care of their daughter Pia. They take the child into the family in addition to their own daughter. Pia's grandmother is suspicious, she is only allowed to see her granddaughter a few days a month and has Pia secretly baptized Christian. She also disturbs an information event about the planned mosque construction and speaks disparagingly about the future Imam Cem. In court, Cem unexpectedly refuses custody of Pia, even though his wife is very committed to her. After moving in with their grandparents, the child suddenly goes missing. She is found again in her former, now empty nursery. After all, everyone celebrates their birthday together with their Muslim foster parents.
criticism
“A story about child welfare, headscarf and mosque construction, which is not always credibly constructed. Unusual the portrayal of a Muslim family without the usual clichés. At the center is a budding imam, who stands for an enlightened Islam, played by the gentle giant Murathan Muslu. Neshe Demir and Katrin Sass are convincing in the female roles. "
