Dave (artist)

David Pflugi (* 1969 in Wahlen , at times also active under the stage name Dave ) is a Swiss artist.

His works include the “Victory Works”, five works of art that he created in collaboration with FIFA for the 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups, each of which was signed by all players from both final teams of the respective World Cup.

In 2009, two performances staged by Dave in front of the Athens Acropolis and at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin were the subject of media reports worldwide.

In Frankfurt am Main , his work of art “Space of Time” adorns the main entrance of the Commerzbank Tower on Kaiserplatz as a permanent installation .

David Pflugi's artistic style is based on the idea that an object can look completely different when viewed from different perspectives. In its simplest form, this is designed in such a way that a three-dimensional relief is painted with fragments of various two-dimensional images. Viewed from a certain position, the visual fragments combine to form entire motifs. If the viewer moves, the anamorphic illusions disintegrate and the image becomes abstract. The overall artistic aspect of the works is weighted more heavily than the individual motifs. So Dave's works, which he calls "fusions", often contain a multitude of different artistic styles and techniques: A "fusion" can easily be a sculpture, a classic portrait, an action painting and a performance at the same time.

His works have been exhibited in Berlin , Basel , New York , Frankfurt and Cannes , among others .
