Dave Irwin

David Benjamin "Dave" Irwin (born July 12, 1954 in Loch Lomond , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ski racer.

Irwin grew up in Thunder Bay . During the 1970s he formed the " Crazy Canucks " with Jim Hunter , Dave Murray , Steve Podborski and Ken Read .

A few days after Ken Read's success in the downhill from Val-d'Isère , Irwin also won. On December 19, 1975, Irwin won his first and only World Cup race in the downhill in Schladming . A few weeks later he was eighth in the downhill at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck . Four years later, at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , he finished eleventh in the same discipline.

In his last active racing season 1981/82 he achieved third place in Whistler behind Peter Müller and Steve Podborski .
