Dave zwieback is a Kölschrock band from Cologne / Bonn , the name is based on a character from the trilogy Die nackte Kanone .
Band history
In 2011, keyboardist and band founder Clemens Roer fulfilled his wish to record two songs he had composed himself in Cologne dialect. The rock number Hück ovend and the ballad Kölsche Tön were recorded with professional studio musicians and a befriended hobby singer . For this purpose, a video was shot each time and this was "distributed" to the circle of friends. Motivated by the feedback, Roer produced three more songs in 2012 with the singer Markus Lürick, Links un räächs (also with video), Jrömmel en d´r Trööt and the samba piece Samba en Colonia , arranged with winds, choir and Portuguese speaker - and with it also the first EP. The first participation in the "Loss mer singe live casting 2012" ended with 3rd place.
In 2013 Dave zwieback was completely renewed. With Eddie Leo Schruff, a former member of the Wanderers, professional wind came into the band, and the string section was also updated. This is followed by further studio recordings, EPs and concerts in Cologne, Bonn, Eifel, Bergisches Land as far as Hagen for the Brandt zwieback company and in the Black Forest, the band is also increasingly involved in carnival.
In November 2015 Dave Zwieback won the "Kölsche Musik Bänd Contest" and the "Loss mer singe Live Casting 2015". With the title Ze Hus , which was written together with Björn Heuser , the band was represented in 2016, with the title Zweimol Fastelovend 2017 at the “Loss mer singe - pub crawl”.
In September 2017 there was another change, since then Dave Zwieback has been with the current line-up. The first appearance with the new line-up was the benefit concert organized by the band "Dave Zwieback hilft - der OASE eV" with Bömmel, Kafi and Hartmut von den Bläck Fööss , as well as Philip Oebel and "Die Bænd" in October in the Lapidarium in Cologne.
Songs
The songs by Dave Zwieback describe a wide variety of stories with cheerful but also serious topics. So it goes in Em Hätze to say goodbye in Levve un Levve losse to the damp household budget and two moles Fastelovend to the Cologne Carnival Monday Parade, which was actually in 2016 because of the storm almost in Dusseldorf, canceled and rescheduled but later something there. Jrommel en d´r Trööt describes the embarrassing failure in important situations and was originally written to the melody Shadows on the wall by Mike Oldfield . At left un räächs it comes to swaying and the Rhine socializing, and Ze Hus is a tribute to the Piranha Bar of host Lutz in Kwartier Latäng .
In 2016 Dave Zwieback set the song Pissing in the Rhine on Kölsch ( Widder hee ) with support from Eric Bazilian and Rob Hyman from the American rock band The Hooters .
In 2017 Clemens Roer wrote the motto song Karnevalsdiplom (celebrate and study) for the 2017/2018 Bonn carnival session.
