David Chettle
David Chettle ( David John "Dave" Chettle; born September 14, 1951 ) is a retired Australian long-distance runner .
In 1974 he finished third in the Australian Marathon Championship and twelfth in the Fukuoka Marathon .
In the following year he came in the Cross Country World Championships 1975 in Rabat on the 105th place. After finishing second in the Australian Marathon Championship, he finished second in Fukuoka in 2:10:20 hours, the third fastest time of the year.
At the marathon of the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he gave up after 25 km.
In 1977 he finished 116th at the Cross Country World Championships in Düsseldorf . The following year he won the Kyoto Marathon and the Australian elimination race for the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton in 1978 , where he came in 15th.
At the 1979 World Cross Country Championship in Limerick, he finished in 120th place. In the same year he finished second and in 1980 fourth in the Montreal Marathon. When the Boston Marathon in 1981 he was eighth, and the Chicago Marathon in 1982 he came to the 15th place.
In 1977 he became Australian cross-country champion .
