David Drake

David Drake (born September 24, 1945 in Dubuque , Iowa ) is an American science fiction and fantasy writer.

Life

Drake is a Vietnam veteran, has worked as a lawyer and is now one of the leading authors in the field of military SF .

When collaborating with other authors, he often acts as a kind of military advisor and brings corresponding points of view into the projects. Often he "only" contributes a detailed outline of the plot (exposé between 5,000 and 15,000 words) to the works and then does not see himself as a real co-author, even if he is considered by the publisher (and with the full consent of some of his co-authors) such is listed.
