David Engel (historian)

David Joshua Engel (born 1951 ) is an American historian .

Life

Engel received his doctorate in 1979 from the University of California in Los Angeles and then conducted research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem .

He has been a fellow at the Diaspora Research Institute at Tel Aviv University since 1985 and has been a member of other scientific organizations since then. In 2012 he was co-editor of a commemorative publication for the Judaist Robert Chazan .

Engel is Professor of “Holocaust and Judaic Studies” at New York University .
