David Edward Hicks (born August 1, 1988 ) is an American basketball player. He was most recently under contract with Schwelmer Baskets .

career

Hicks grew up in Mendota Heights , Minnesota , and played basketball at the local St. Thomas Academy. He also spent a year of high school at the South Kent School in Connecticut .

Between 2007 and 2011 he played and studied at Long Island University Brooklyn  and was used in a total of 124 NCAA games during this time  . He scored an average of 9.3 points per encounter.

Hicks began his professional career in a lower class in Germany: first with the regional division UBC Münster , then with the Schwelmer Baskets in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . He made a name for himself there as a strong offensive player and lived up to this reputation when he played for the second division club Science City Jena in the second half of the 2014/15  season and recorded an average of 18.2 points per game. He played in Israel and Latvia in the 2015/16 season and signed with the Oettinger Rockets in February 2017 . With the Thuringians he became ProA runner-up in spring 2017, which meant promotion to the Bundesliga. Hicks contributed an average of 13.8 points to this success in 20 missions.

In the fall of 2017 he took part in the pre-season preparation for the Iowa Wolves  from the NBA G League , but was not signed afterwards. At the end of November 2017 he returned to Germany and played again for the Schwelmer Baskets in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB. In the engagement in Schwelm, which was limited to a few weeks, Hicks convinced as a scorer and scored an average of 25.5 points as well as 4.8 rebounds and four basket assists per match in four games. Shortly before Christmas 2017, his temporary contract in Schwelm expired.
