David Lansana (born March 22, 1922 , † July 19, 1975 ) was in 1967 as a brigadier of the highest military in Sierra Leone . He belonged to the Mende tribe . He was married and had a son. His son, Shuggy, was a high-ranking military man and came to visit. a. used in the Falklands War .

David Lansana was the first African to serve in the Royal Sierra Leonean Army . He later became the first African to lead the Army's First Battalion . He received numerous awards for his great commitment and bravery.

A few days after Siaka Stevens ' inauguration, on March 21, 1967, he came to power through a military coup instigated by Albert Margai , but only three days later, on March 24, 1967, it became the National Reform Council itself through another military leadership (NRC) under Ambrose Patrick Genda , disempowered.
