David Lelei

David Lelei (born May 10, 1971 , † February 17, 2010 between Nakuru and Eldoret ) was a Kenyan middle-distance runner .

Life

His greatest international success was winning the silver medal in the 1500 meter run at the 1999 Pan-African Games in Johannesburg. Over the same distance, he finished seventh at the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville. At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 2001 in Lisbon, he was fourth in the 800-meter run .

David Lelei was 1.76 m tall and had a competition weight of 60 kg. On February 17, 2010, he and Moses Tanui were involved in a traffic accident in which he died, while Tanui survived seriously injured.
