David Maryanayagam Swamidoss Pillat SDB (born January 11, 1905 in Vallambury , British India , † July 17, 1969 ) was Bishop of Vellore .

Life

David Maryanayagam Swamidoss Pillat joined the religious order of the Salesians of Don Bosco in and received on 7 July 1934, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On July 4, 1956, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Vellore. The Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore , Louis Mathias SDB, donated him episcopal ordination on September 9 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Shillong , Stephen Ferrando SDB, and the Bishop of Tanjore , Rajarethinam Arokiasamy Sundaram .

He attended the first, second and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.
