David Meier (musician)

David Meier (* 1985 in Escholzmatt ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( drums , composition ) of the Modern Creative .

Live and act

While doing his military service, Meier was a member of the Swiss Army Big Band , with whom the first recordings were made in 2006 ( Swing pour un sourire ). In the following years he worked in the Swiss jazz scene a. a. with Oliver Tabeling ( Walking Along the River ), Pascal Galeone ( Laikan ) and the Jazzwerkstatt Bern. Meier formed the trio Things to Sounds with Tobias Meier and Yves Theiler , with which two albums were created. He also played with Andi Schnellmann (bass) and Manuel Troller (guitar) in the Schnellertollermeier trio , in the Day and Taxi trio , as well as in the formations Equally Stupid (album Exploding Head , 2014) and the trio Riot (with Mette Rasmussen and Sam Andreae ) as well as in a duo with Ramon Landolt . With Silvan Jeger and Tobias Meier, he released the album David Meier's Hunter-Gatherer (Wide Ear, 2013) under his own name . In the field of jazz he was involved in ten recording sessions between 2006 and 2016. In early 2019 he played the United States in a formation with Jaimie Branch , Shayna Dulberger and Darius Jones .
