David Miller (Director)

David Miller (born November 28, 1909 in Paterson , New Jersey , † April 14, 1992 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film director .

Life

David Miller came to the cinema through writing text for movie trailers. First as a film editor and from the mid-30s as a director, he was able to gain a foothold in Hollywood. The short film he directed Penny Wisdom was awarded the Oscar for best short film in 1938. Miller spent his military service during World War II in the crew of director Frank Capra , who made propaganda documentaries. Miller showed great versatility in the films he directed in the following years. For example, the comedy Love Happy with Groucho Marx and Marilyn Monroe as well as the thriller Midnight Peaks .
