David Patiño Oviedo (born September 6, 1967 in Mexico City ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of a striker . After his active career, he started working as a trainer.

Life

society

Patiño began his professional career with the UNAM Pumas , for which he was used for the first time in the Torneo México 86 of the top Mexican division . In the next few years he reached the finals of the Mexican championship twice with the Pumas against arch-rivals America , both of which are based in the same district of Mexico City, Coyoacán . In 1988, America prevailed and in 1991 the pumas got the upper hand. In addition to the 1991 championship title, Patiño won the CONCACAF Champions Cup with the Pumas in 1989 .

In 1993 he moved to CF Monterrey , where he was under contract until 1998 and in 1997 was temporarily loaned to the Colorado Rapids playing in Major League Soccer . After moving to CF Pachuca , Patiño won the championship title again with the Tuzos in the Torneo Invierno 99 . In the 2000/01 season he ended his career with the second-rate in the Primera División 'A' gambling Toros Neza .

National team

Patiño made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on February 10, 1993 in a friendly against Romania, which was won 2-0. He made a total of twenty international appearances in 1993 and also played five games at the Copa America , where he scored one goal in the games against Argentina (1: 1) on June 20 and against Peru (4: 2) on June 27 . His last international match was in the 1-0 defeat against Jamaica on November 17, 1996 as part of the World Cup qualification .

Trainer

After his active career, Patiño began working as a coach and was under contract with the first division club Monarcas Morelia in early 2008 . He then took over the Monarcas farm team Mérida FC , playing in the second division , with whom he won the Primera División 'A' Clausura 2009 and with whom he worked until September 2010.

He was later under contract with the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz , from whom he was released in September 2012. After another job as head coach at Pumas Morelos , he was named interim coach of his former club UNAM Pumas in early September 2013.
