David Petersen (bassoonist)

David Petersen (born September 13, 1968 in Schwerin ) is a German bassoonist .

Life

Petersen was born in 1968 in Schwerin as the son of the cathedral choirmaster Winfried Petersen . From 1983 to 1986 he attended the special school for music in Dresden . He then studied bassoon with Bernhard Rose at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden , with Holger Straube at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin and with Klaus Thunemann at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media .

He was a substitute at the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and has been solo bassoonist at the Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig since 1992 . In 1993 he founded the Gewandhaus octet. Since 1999 he has also played in the armonia wind ensemble, with which he appeared at the Rheingau Music Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival .

He has given concerts as a soloist in the USA, France, Spain and Austria. In 2002 he played with the Camerata Salzburg under Roger Norrington at the Salzburg Festival and in 2005 on a tour of Japan with the Leipzig Chamber Orchestra under Morten Schuldt-Jensen .

He is a lecturer at the Rostock University of Music and Theater .
