David Plüss (theologian)

David Plüss (* 1964 ) is a Swiss Protestant theologian , co-director of the interdepartmental competence center for liturgy at the University of Bern , where he holds a chair for homiletics , liturgy and church theory .

Live and act

Plüss learned the craft of draftsman . He then studied Protestant theology in Basel and Berlin from 1987 to 1993 . In 1995 his vicariate followed in Diegten and in the psychiatric clinic in Liestal . In 1996 he became the divini minister Verbi ordained . After studying philosophy in Paris , which was made possible by a grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation , he worked from 1997 to 2005 as an assistant for practical theology at the theological faculty of the University of Basel. In 2000 he received his doctorate from the University of Basel with his dissertation on The Messianic - Judaism and Philosophy in the work of Emmanuel Levina . In 2005 his habilitation followed in Basel with a thesis on worship as a text production: Perspectives on a performative aesthetic of worship . Between 2000 and 2005 he was the Bologna representative of the Theological Faculty for the preparation and introduction of new courses. From 2006 to 2009 he was assistant professor for practical theology and dean of studies at the theological faculty at the University of Basel. Plüss has been Professor of Homiletics , Liturgy and Church Theory at the University of Bern since 2010 .

Together with Angela Berlis, he heads the interdepartmental Liturgy Competence Center at the University of Bern. His main research interests are contemporary liturgy, ritual theory and qualitative empirical research on religion.

Plüss is a member of the jury for the “Swiss Sermon Prize” and the author of numerous theological books and specialist articles .

Private

Plüss is married, has two children and lives in Burgdorf , Canton Bern .
