Kammoor nature reserve

The Kammoor nature reserve with a size of 2.7 hectares is located on the southern edge of the municipality of Herscheid . The nature reserve (NSG) was designated in 1998 by the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 5 Herscheid . The southern edge of the nature reserve (NSG) borders the town of Meinerzhagen and the local nature reserve Auf'm Ebbe / Ebbemoore.

The NSG Kammoor was designated as part of the FFH area Ebbemoore with the number DE 4812-301 and a size of 1,068 hectares in 2004 . Five other areas are located in the municipality of Herscheid. Large parts of this FFH area are also located in the Meinerzhagen urban area .

Protection purpose

According to the nature reserve designation, the area was designated as a nature reserve for the maintenance, development and restoration of a hill spring moor complex with specially adapted flora and fauna; for the maintenance, development and restoration of near-natural deciduous forests, in particular bog, birch, alder and beech forest; for the preservation of soils worthy of protection such as Anmoorgleye, fens, Moorstagnogleye, Stagnogleye and Anmoorstagnogleye. Furthermore, in order to contribute to the safeguarding of the ecological network Natura 2000 of the EU in the sense of the Habitats Directive and also to the preservation and development of communities and habitats of wild, partly endangered animal and plant species. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
