Herveler Bachtal nature reserve (Herscheid)

The nature reserve Herveler Bachtal with a size of 1.8 ha is located on the southwest edge of the municipality of Herscheid . The nature reserve (NSG) was designated in 1998 by the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 5 Herscheid . The southern edge of the NSG borders on the town of Meinerzhagen and the Herveler Bachtal (Meinerzhagen) nature reserve of the same name with a size of 4.1 ha. On the southern edge, the road 696 partially forms the NSG border.

The nature reserve bears the same name as the nature reserve in Meinerzhagen .

Area description

NSG is the Herveler Bachtal with the Herveler Bach and partly fallow wet and humid grassland areas.

Protection purpose

According to the nature reserve designation, the area was designated a nature reserve for the preservation, development and restoration of a stream valley with a specially adapted flora and fauna. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
