Katerlöh nature reserve

The Katerlöh nature reserve with a size of 2.8 hectares is located in the municipality of Herscheid, northwest of the hamlet of Katerlöh . The nature reserve (NSG) was designated in 1998 by the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 5 Herscheid .

Area description

The NSG is a juniper heather .

Protection purpose

According to the nature reserve designation, the area was designated a nature reserve for the maintenance, development and restoration of a juniper heather with a specially adapted flora and fauna. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
