David Preece

David Preece (born May 28, 1963 in Bridgnorth , England , † July 20, 2007 in Luton , Bedfordshire , England) was an English football player . He played three times for England's B national team.

Preece started his career at FC Walsall . He made his debut in the win against Chester City . In December 1984 he signed a contract with Luton Town and won 1-0 in his first game against Aston Villa .

In 1988 he won the League Cup together with Luton and played a total of 400 games for the first team of Luton.

In September 1996 he moved to Cambridge United without a transfer fee . He played 75 games and was assistant to Roy McFarland before moving to Torquay United in August 2001 . His contract was terminated in 2002 due to the bankruptcy of the television station ITV Digital . He moved again, this time to Enfield , but left the club there in December 2002 again to become manager at Stevenage Borough .

Preece died in July 2007 after a brief serious illness.
