David Remnick
David Remnick (born October 29, 1958 in Hackensack , New Jersey ) is an American journalist, author and newspaper editor.
Life
He grew up, he said, in a liberal Jewish household with "many books" and graduated from Princeton in 1981 . He worked for the Washington Post as a reporter and correspondent in Moscow .
In 1994 Remnick won the Pulitzer Prize for his work Lenin's Tomb: The Last Days of the Soviet Empire . His book King of the World , a biography of the boxer Muhammad Ali , also received a lot of attention .
Remnick has been editor-in-chief of the New Yorker since 1998 . In this role he edited selected articles in the New Yorker , whereupon he was voted “Editor of the Year” in 1999 by Advertising Age magazine . In 2014 he received an honorary doctorate from Columbia University . In 2006 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences , in 2008 to the American Philosophical Society and in 2016 to the American Academy of Arts and Letters .
