David Seidel (2015)

David Seidel (born May 18, 1976 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian bassoonist .

Career

Seidel completed his studies with Milan Turković , Yoshinori Tominaga and Richard Galler . During his studies he won the Gradus ad Parnassum (2nd prize in 1996, 1st and special prize in 1998) and in 1988 the advancement award of the Anton Bruckner Association of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra . Since autumn 1998 he has been a member of the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna , where he works as a solo bassoonist. Chamber music activities and solo performances, also with live radio broadcasts, as well as master classes, complemented the work in the orchestra .

David Seidel was a guest in the Vienna Philharmonic , the Vienna State Opera Orchestra , the Vienna Symphony Orchestra , the NDR -Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, the Munich Philharmonic , the Mozarteum -Orchester Salzburg , the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler and the Camerata Salzburg invited.

Several solo appearances with his orchestra under Dennis Russell Davies , Bertrand de Billy and Cornelius Meister took place, as well as the Austrian premiere of André Jolivet's bassoon concerto in 2001 . Also with the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra , the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra , the Vienna Classical Players, the Sinfonietta Baden and the Vienna Mozartists.

He is a founding member of the Vienna Bass & oon Quartet , the Theophil Ensemble Vienna, the Baole Quintett Vienna and the Fagotes Locos . With these, as well as as a soloist and in other formations, he made guest appearances at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Palmklang Festival in Oberalm near Salzburg and the Moritzburg Festival .

Teaching

Since autumn 2010 he has been professor for bassoon at the Oberschützen Institute of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . Before that, he was a lecturer for bassoon at the Music and Art University of the City of Vienna for one year . He was also lecturer for chamber music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna at the Anton Bruckner Institute from autumn 2009 to autumn 2014. Since autumn 2014, he has been teaching an additional bassoon class at the Graz University of Art at the Institute for Wind and Percussion Instruments in Graz as part of his University professorship.
