David Robert Wilkins (born April 30, 1950 in Malahide ) is a retired Irish sailor .
successes
David Wilkins participated in five Olympic Games . First he started in the Tempest boat class , in which he took eighth place with changing partners in 1972 in Munich and eleventh place in 1976 in Montreal . He then moved into the class of boat Flying Dutchman and was in 1980 in Moscow with James Wilkinson once second. In six of the seven races they finished four times second, once fourth and once fifth and finished the regatta in second place with 30 total points. Behind the Spanish and in front of the Hungarian boat they received the silver medal. In the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and 1992 in Barcelona he did not come in each case beyond the tenth and 14th place.
