David Wise (composer)

David Wise is a composer known for his work with video game developer Rare on the Donkey Kong Country series. He left the company in 2009.

biography

Before joining Rare , Wise was employed in a music store in Leicester . There he wrote his first digital music on the Yamaha CX5 music computer . When he demonstrated the device to the Rare managing directors Tim and Chris Stamper , he got a job in their company. He composed music for video games on the Nintendo consoles NES , SNES , Nintendo 64 , GameCube and Game Boy Advance .

In 2009 David Wise left Rare after it was acquired by Microsoft and changed direction towards sports games and Kinect . He continued to work as a composer and sound designer on video games and other digital media for his own company, David Wise Sound Studios and Music Publishing . For Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze , published in 2014 , he returned to the DKC series as a composer .
