Dawn Crosby (born April 5, 1963 in Oxon Hill , Maryland , † December 15, 1996 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American singer. She made her debut as a singer with her band Détente , but then moved with her producer to the band Fear of God , which at that time were already under contract with Warner Music Group . Her widely acclaimed debut Within the Veil , released in 1991, was hailed as a milestone in the press. In the further course, Crosby fell out with the other band members and replaced them with new musicians. With these she recorded the second album Toxic Voodoo . Then the band broke up.

Dawn Crosby died on December 15, 1996 of liver failure caused by long-term alcohol and drug abuse.

Trivia

The song At Dawn they sleep on the 1985 album Hell Awaits by the US thrash metal band Slayer allegedly refers to the fact that during this time many of the heavy metal musicians roaming around Los Angeles were able to stay at Dawn Crosby's .
