Dawud Gholamasad

Dawud Gholamasad (born January 21, 1943 in Tehran , Iran ) is a German sociologist .

Life

Gholamasad grew up in Iran. From 1962 to 1966 Gholamasad completed an internship and an engineering degree in Germany. From 1966 to the end of 1970 he studied at the University of Graz and received his doctorate in 1970 with the theme Socio-economic aspects of land reform in Iran Dr. rer. pole. From 1971 to 1973 he studied philosophy, sociology and education at the University of Frankfurt am Main. In 1973 he moved to the University of Hanover as a research assistant. In 1985 he qualified as a professor for the subject of sociology with the work The Origin of the Islamic Revolution . In 1987 he became professor of sociology at the Institute for Sociology in Hanover.

His work deals with the topics of Iran , intercultural coexistence, migration , equal treatment , conflict management, religion (especially Islam ) and interreligious dialogue . As a reference theory for his work, Gholamasad mainly uses the process and figurative sociology founded by Norbert Elias , which he has significantly further developed.
