The DeSoto K series was the first car series that Chrysler offered under the DeSoto brand name in the 1929 and 1930 model years.

The cars were equipped with an in-line six-cylinder engine with upright valves, which at 2866 cm³ (bore × stroke (mm) = 76.2 × 104.8) made 55 bhp (40 kW) at 3000 / min, which was transmitted to the via a manual three-speed gearbox Rear wheels were forwarded. On the chassis with a 2788 mm wheelbase, there were various 2-door coupés, a 2-door roadster, a 4-door Phaeton and two 4-door sedans. The wagons already had hydraulic brakes on all four wheels, which were designed as wooden spoke wheels.

The cars were presented on August 6, 1928 and 500 dealerships were immediately found in the USA for the new brand. In July 1929 the model was adopted unchanged in the 1930 model year. A total of 62,191 vehicles were built.

In May of the 1930 model year, the K series was replaced by the further developed CK series .
