De Grotzepuur is a 1975 film by Mark M. Rissi with Walo Lüönd , Schaggi Streuli , Jörg Schneider and Valerie Steinmann.

action

The film is about an elderly farmer who keeps chickens and pigs in a cruel manner to maximize profit . The «Grotzenbauer» - a farmer who has his farm on «Grotzen» - a field name - suffers various failures. He doesn't get along with the technology; his pigs suffocate in the unventilated stable. His son and his wife are deeply indignant at the way he treats the animals. The failures deprive him of his fortune; his property will be auctioned. From then on he spends his life as an alcoholic in a social apartment.

History of origin

Today Rissi is president of the Swiss animal welfare organization STS; the same association financed the film at the time. The portrayed animal husbandry is prohibited in Switzerland today. Portions of the film's soundtrack were released as a vinyl single by CBS Records in 1975 .
