Dead & Company is an American rock band in which the former musicians of the band Grateful Dead ("Dead" for short) Bob Weir (guitar), Mickey Hart (drums) and Bill Kreutzmann (drums) together with John Mayer (guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass / drums) and Jeff Chimenti (keyboards) play.

history

In 2015, John Mayer, a big fan of the music of the Grateful Dead, invited Dead guitarist Bob Weir to joint studio recordings. While the four still living Dead musicians Weir, Hart, Kreutzmann and Phil Lesh (bass) gave a series of concerts under the title “Fare Thee Well” in June and July 2015 for the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Grateful Dead, Mayer worked his way up into the extensive catalog of Dead-Songs. In August 2015, Mayer, Weir, Hart and Kreutzmann founded the band "Dead & Company" together with Jeff Chimenti and Oteil Burbridge; Phil Lesh declined to participate. First was Mike Gordon of Phish provided as a bassist, but had to cancel due to other commitments.

After a first concert at Madison Square Garden in New York , Dead & Company went on tour for the first time. Since then there have been several tours through the United States and appearances at major festivals such as the Bonnaroo Music Festival (2016) and the Locknʼ Festival (2018).
