Dead in the Dirt is an American grindcore band from Atlanta , Georgia that was formed in 2008.
history
The band was founded in December 2008 by guitarist and singer Blake Connally, who also wrote the lyrics for all songs. A short time later, the drummer Hank Pratt and the bassist and singer Bo Orr joined the cast. The latter also designed the covers of all subsequent releases. In 2010 the EP Vold was released , followed by the next EP Fear in 2011 after signing a contract with Southern Lord . In 2013 the debut album The Blind Hole was released . The album was produced in Bricktop Recording Studio under the direction of Andy Nelson in Chicago and mastered by Brad Boatright .
style
On the EP Vold, according to Fred Thomas from Allmusic, the band play fast grindcore, with slight influences from Black Metal . According to the band biography on southernlord.com , the band was influenced by groups like His Hero Is Gone , Left for Dead , Infest and Dropdead . Christian Kruse from Metal Hammer listened to the influences of noise and D-beat on The Blind Hole . In addition, were blast beats characteristic. Compared to their label colleagues Centuries , the music sounds significantly more extreme due to the higher speed of the songs. The music is comparable to that of Discharge , Terrorizer or Hierophant .
