Death Strip ( High Stakes ) is an American thriller directed by Amos Kollek from 1989 .

Melanie Rose, called Bambi , is a stripper in New York City . One day she finds the beaten up John Stratton, a Wall Street financial entrepreneur, near her home. She takes him into her apartment.

Rose and Stratton fall in love. Both decide to rearrange their lives. However, the mafia Rose worked for kidnaps her daughter. Stratton helps her find the child again.

Reviews

Vincent Canby described the film in the New York Times on November 17, 1989 as a romantic comedy. However, a comedy is not the genre of director Amos Kollek. The film lacks the joke. Sally Kirkland appears " aristocratic ", but she plays with " enthusiasm ".
