action

The shadow collector has snatched the shadow of Nathan Rijckx, a Belgian soldier from the First World War . He gives the soldier the chance to come back to life when he catches the shadows of 10,000 other people. At first this doesn't seem to be a problem. He looks for a name, finds the person and grabs the shadow when it dies. Between the individual jobs he touches the nails on his shadow and so remembers. He notices a woman named Sarah Winter who helped him shortly before his death and with whom he fell in love.

He is now supposed to pick up the shadow from Thomas Belcourt. He notices that Sarah is now in a relationship with the soldier Daniel Hainau. Angry and jealous, who only has to find a shadow, he seeks every Daniel Hainut he can find. He finally struck gold in 1917 and snatched his shadow. So he comes to life again and can choose a time. However, the choice must be made within an hour.

He decides to stay shortly after Daniel's death and tries to return to Sarah. However, she does not recognize him. Just before the doors to the shadow dimension close, he frees Daniel's soul again and dies a second time, this time in his place. When Sarah dies years later, her shadow is placed next to Nathan's.
