Debby van Dooren (born August 11, 1986 in Munich ) is a German- American singer-songwriter and voice-over speaker.

Life

Born as the youngest of five children to a songwriter, musician and pastor with Egyptian-Dutch roots and a manager and photographer with US roots, van Dooren was enthusiastic about music in childhood.

At the age of nine she became the lead singer of the hip-hop girl group "Sista Sista". This toured as the opening act for 3T and released a single. After the band split up, van Dooren began to write his own English songs and record first demos; She also played in musicals - including "Annie" and "Just one world". She was musically influenced by Brandy , Mariah Carey and Destiny's Child, among others .

In addition to her musical career, she was the voice actress and singer of the young "Kiara" ( Lion King II ), "Melody" ( Arielle II ), "Little Miriam" ( The Prince of Egypt ) and "Vaiana" ( Vaiana ). She also appeared as an actress in TV productions. At the age of 14 she began to produce her own song ideas.

In 2006 van Dooren co-produced and wrote songs with her sisters for the album "Share Eternity" by the "Van Dooren Sisters" . The sisters performed at festivals, churches and events in Germany for seven years until the band split up in 2007. After that, van Dooren concentrated on solo projects and published, among other things, the first solo CD "Not Afraid" and the book "Not Afraid - On the Stage of Life" in 2013. In 2015 she took part in the casting show " The Voice of Germany ". In 2016 she sang the lead role of "Vaiana" in the film of the same name. She also works as a singer for studio productions and as a voice-over speaker in German and English.
