Deborah Brown
Deborah Brown (* around 1952 in Kansas City (Missouri) ) is an American jazz singer who became internationally known.
Live and act
Brown, whose mother was a classical musician and accordion teacher , first took violin lessons, then learned the accordion and finally the piano from her grandmother . She began studying at the local university to work professionally as a singer at the age of 20 after brief tutoring from George Peckham . She toured first with various groups in the US and joined among others in a big band in Las Vegas on to George Carlin to join.
Brown spent the time between 1985 and 1995 in Europe, where she worked from Amsterdam ; she also toured the Far East . She recorded her debut album with the Jack van Poll trio in 1985. Then she led the band Jazz 4 Jazz with Horace Parlan , Red Mitchell and Ed Thigpen . She also appeared in the Netherlands with the Ruud Bos big band , in Russia with the Oleg Lundstrem orchestra , in Scandinavia with the Sandviken Big Band (album The Song Is You 1989 for Four Leaf ) and with Klüvers Big Band . She recorded albums with Zbigniew Namysłowski , David Linx , Pierre Van Dormael , Jan Lundgren , Niels Lan Doky and Chris Minh Doky as well as with Johnny Griffin and Benny Bailey .
Since then, Brown has lived in the USA again; In 2005 she released a duo with guitarist Joe Beck , but rarely appears there, but tours internationally with a few exceptions.
