Deetz is a district of the municipality of Groß Kreutz (Havel) in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg . with almost 1000 inhabitants.
history
It was first mentioned in a document in 1190 as a Detiz , which at that time belonged to the Lehnin Monastery . In Deetz there is a stone church that was built in 1901/02; In the west tower and in the western part of the nave, remains of a previous medieval building were used. In the vicinity there are numerous so-called "holes in the ground" from which clay was extracted for the brickworks until 1963 . They are now full of water and are used as fishing and bathing water.
Local museum
The local history museum is presented in the historic rooms in the community center at Alte Dorfstrasse 1. Appliances from household and agriculture are on display. The focus of the exhibition is on the associations of the village, a shoemaker's workshop, remnants of the seven brick factories in Deetz and the photo collection. Every 14 days in the local history museum, “story evenings” of the Deetz local history association, founded in 1998, take place.
