The Deighton River is a river in the north of the Australian state of Queensland , in the Far North Queensland region on the Cape York Peninsula .

geography

River course

The river rises on the western slopes of the Battle Camp Range , part of the Great Dividing Range , about 45 kilometers southwest of Cooktown . From there it first flows to the northwest along the mountain range and then turns west. When it reaches Lakefield National Park , it turns its course to the northwest again and flows into the Laura River about five kilometers south of the Old Laura settlement .
