The Laura River is a river in the north of the Australian state of Queensland , in the Far North Queensland region on the Cape York Peninsula .
geography
River course
The river has its source on the northern slopes of Mount Murray in the Atherton Tablelands , part of the Great Dividing Range , about 80 km southwest of Cooktown . It flows first to the northwest, along the Peninsula Developmental Road , to the small town of Laura . There it turns its course north into Lakefield National Park . Approx. It flows into the Normanby River 20 km north of the Old Laura settlement .
